What’s In Store for Hilldale this Fall

Changing leaves and crisp, cooler weather have many of us giddy to bust out our cozy boots and cable knit scarves.  Fall is my favorite fashion season, so when I received an invite to Hilldale Shopping Center’s Fashion Palooza blogger’s brunch to preview their fall and winter looks, you better believe I was dusting off my buttery leather knee-highs faster than you can say “pumpkin spice latte!”

The event kicked off with a brunch catered by some of Hilldale’s delicious eateries including FlatTop Grill, Sushi Muramoto, Cafe Porta Alba, Metcalfe’s Market, and Gigi’s Cupcakes – and then it was on to the fashion!

First, Mary and Amy from Macy’s showed us some of their favorite looks for fall.  Leather and denim were classic and popular pairings, and they expect houndstooth to be a major trend this season.

Margo from Ulla Eyewear shared their latest eyewear styles and trends. Look for eyewear frames to start thinning out this season. “Geek” is still chic, but in a thinner profile. Popular shapes for the fall are round and cat eye lenses. Looking for the most cutting edge look in eyewear? Ulla now carries frames made using 3D printing!

Robin and Janna from Evereve (the store formerly known as Hot Mama) state layering and mixed prints are huge this season, as well as mid-length skirts that are flared versus straight.  Haven’t given black denim a try in a while?  Now’s the time to reconsider it.  Evereve’s new black denim styles no longer fade in the wash and are a trendy look for any occasion.  One of my favorite pieces highlighted were the new AG Digital Luxe Denim Leggings (photo below; far right).  They look stylishly distressed, but there isn’t a single hole or rip in them – the distressing is printed on!  The effect is so flawless that you literally cannot even tell these jeans aren’t torn until you rub your hand across them to discover they’re smooth as silk.  Amazing!

Lululemon Athletica has everything you need to stay warm and dry this fall, whether you’re running through the UW Arboretum or getting your downward dog on indoors.  In addition to stylish, comfortable and functional athletic and casual wear, Lululemon also offers complimentary yoga in store every Saturday morning from 9-10am.  You can also join them for a run every Saturday morning at 7:30am – all abilities welcome!

In addition to all of this fun fashion, Hilldale Shopping Center itself is getting a new look!  Renovations are currently underway and Hilldale will soon be welcoming these eight exciting new retailers:  Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Lush, Cafe Hollander, Lucky Brand, Sperry Top-Sider, Sur La Table, and White House Black Market.

Here’s a peek at how the new Hilldale redevelopment will look:

All current retailers are open during construction, so wrap that scarf around your neck, slide into your favorite pair of boots, and go and get your shop on!
