Saturday, March 3: Kid Disco: 11 am – 2 pm at Great Dane -Hilldale | The Great Dane Hilldale is bringing disco back and making it cooler than ever. Kid Disco is back for another year of fun and entertainment. Funny Faces Entertainment will be helping out to bring the kids all the fun they could ask for, from balloon sculptures to face painting they have it all. Don’t forget about the music. DJ Nick Nice will be setting the mood of the ’70s through his musical genius. The price of admission is $5 per person, but includes two snacks and a drink for the kids. There will be a maximum charge of $15 per family.
Saturday, March 3: Tweens & Teens Culinary Class: Healthy Homemade: 10:30-11:45 am at Whole Foods Market | Explore healthy food and learn kitchen skills in this culinary class designed for tweens and teens (ages 11-18). This hands-on and interactive class is a perfect chance to learn some more advanced kitchen skills and express creativity through food. We will prepare a delicious menu from scratch including homemade pasta, homemade jam and homemade sushi! $20
Saturday, March 3: Saturday Science-Science of Color: 10 am – 12 pm at the UW Discovery Building | Learn how light colors our world and is essential to science at this free event held on the first Saturday of every month! Discover how to use color to study stars, learn how colors are mixed to make new shades, explore how fluorescence is used in research, mix light to create your own colors and more. This event is being held in conjunction with the Color Symposium. This event is free and open to the public. It features interactive exploration stations for kids and families.
Saturday, March 3: Clown ‘N Around: 10 am – 1 pm at Sun Prairie Nursery School | Looking for some good family fun? Come to Clown ‘N Around Saturday, March 3rd from 10am-1pm! This is a fundraiser for Sun Prairie Nursery School (located in the United Methodist Church). Admission starts at $5 per family and carnival game punch cards, pizza, and ice cream are available to purchase as well. There will also be Trinity Irish Dancers, Magician Ryan Martin, a face painter, balloon artist, silent auction and raffle. We hope to see you there!
Saturday, March 3: Dino Day: 10 am – 5 pm at the Madison Children’s Museum | Dig into Dinos on our third annual Dino Day. Join us for a day that is full of paleontological fun that is as big as a Titanosaur! Activities for sauropods and other bigger dinos (age 5 and up).
Saturday, March 3: Kids’ Boxing with Canvas Club: 9:30 am – 12 pm at DreamBank | Come glove up at DreamBank! Coaches Jesse and Melissa of Canvas Club will be teaching jabs, hooks, and uppercuts in a series of stations, along with leading boxing classes. Not only is boxing a great workout for the mind and body, it also helps kids increase focus, reduce stress, and build self-confidence! Please note, no contact is involved.
March 3-4: Madison Kids Expo: Alliant Energy Center | Get information and samples for everything kid-related – such as toys and games, sports and fitness, learning devices, safety products, health and nutrition, pediatricians, martial arts, dancing, day cares, schools, natural products, activity equipment, camps and much more for kids of all ages. March 10-24: Diary of a Worm, a Spider and a Fly: The Playhouse at Overture Center | Kids of all ages will love this rock ‘n’ roll romp in a big bug’s world. This delightful new musical celebrates diversity while also teaching about the fascinating world of bugs. Turns out a bug’s life isn’t all that much different from ours!

Saturday, March 17: Shamrock Shuffle: Downtown Madison | The Shamrock Shuffle is scheduled to run every year around St. Patrick’s Day, coordinating with The Madison St. Patrick’s Day Parade and other events celebrating this yearly ritual. Money from the race is donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County and the Children’s Dyslexia Center. To date, hundreds of thousands of dollars have been donated by The Madison Shamrock Shuffle’s proceeds.
Saturday, March 17: Slainte Irish Dancers: 10:30-11:15 at the Wisconsin Historical Museum | What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than with an Irish dance performance? Slainte Irish Dancers-UW Chapter will perform at the Museum starting at 10:30am. After the performance, kids and families will have the chance to learn a jig from the team!
Saturday, March 17: Easter Egg Hunt & Open Swim: 12:30-3:30 pm at SwimWest | Swim West will be hosting their annual Easter egg hunt and open swim on Saturday, March 17th at the Madison West location located at 1001 Deming Way. Open swim will run from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. The Easter egg hunt will start at 1:00pm with staggered start times for different age ranges: 1:00pm (ages 1-3), 1:10pm (ages 4 & 5), 1:20pm (ages 6+). The Easter Bunny will start visiting around 12:45pm. Please bring 2 or more new or gently used children’s books to donate to SwimWest’s Little Free Library.

Wednesday, March 21: Madison Moms Blog – Meet Us At Hilldale | An Easter Playdate: 10-11:30 am at Hilldale Shopping Center | The Easter Bunny is coming to Hilldale! Join us for our monthly playdate with Madison Moms Blog for photos with the Easter Bunny, egg-cellent crafts, delicious treats, and more! While this event is free to attend, we ask that you register so that we can plan appropriately for crafts and snacks.

Friday, March 23: CPR & First Aid Demonstration: 9 am – 12 pm at Swim West | SwimWest will be hosting a CPR and first aid demonstration during our weekly $5 Friday open swim on Friday, March 23rd at the Madison West location located at 1001 Deming Way. So come meet other moms, play in our warm water pool and take a half hour to focus on refreshing your CPR and first aid skills! Open swim will be from 9-12noon. We will be offering infant and child CPR and first aid demonstrations at 9, 10 and 11am. There are 50 spots available. Each adult will need to sign up for their time preference. Saturday, March 24: Storybook Magic with Children’s Theatre of Madison: 9:30 am – 12 pm at DreamBank | Join Children’s Theater of Madison for Storybook Magic! In this engaging and interactive story time, children and their families will use imagination and creativity to bring the spring-themed story, Superworm, to life through drama-based activities. This action-packed book by Julie Donaldson revolves around the kidnap of a creative and heroic worm whose animal friends use teamwork to come to his rescue. Afterwards, students will make their very own Superworm to take home! This story is best suited for ages 4 and up.
Sunday, March 25: UW Softball vs Rugters Kids’ Day: 11 am – 1 pm at Kellner Hall | Help the Badgers cap their first home series of the season when they host Rutgers on Sunday, March 25 at 11am for the first Sunday Kids Day, presented by Kohl’s, of the season. Kids, 12 and under, are eligible to enjoy a $5 Kids Combo, and receive a hot dog, fountain drink and chips for only $5 at the Goodman Diamond concession stand. Kids will also receive a free team schedule poster, and have the opportunity to run the bases and get an autograph from the Badgers after the game.
March 26 & 27: Creative Soul Camp: 11 am 3:30 pm at Middleton Community Church-United Church | A spring camp opportunity allowing kids (ages 6-12) to expand and explore their creativity. Campers will have fun practicing yoga and mindfulness with little om BIG OM, get messy and create in art class, practice and perform in theatre class with All About the Drama and make some healthy and delicious creations in culinary class with Yummy Sprout. 11am-3:30pm Monday March 26th & March 27th, 2018.

Join Yummy Sprout at Revel for a tropical getaway adventure and let your imagination shine. Get crafty and creative with food in this interactive workshop designed for kids ages 6-14. Friday, March 30: Madison Ballet-Rise: Overture Center | Madison Ballet invites you to help close its season in grand style at the historic Capitol Theater, the company’s original Madison home. The evening will feature the work of some of the country’s most sought-after choreographers and a mixed bill of ballets that offers something for everyone. Little Learners – What? Educational play-dates with your little ones. Sessions include story time, music, art, sensory bins, and a snack. Who? Children ages 0 – 5 with their parents or caregivers. When? 10am – 11am on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month. Where? Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Community Room. Cost? $5 per family/session. Payment can be made when you register or on the day of the session
Lodi Moms’ Group Meet-up – We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9:30 to 11:00/11:30 at Lake Wisconsin E Free Church in Lodi. There is childcare for pre-school children for the first half while we meet together for a time of connection and study. Then we all go upstairs to play together in the big multi-purpose room. In the summer we have been meeting in parks to play.
Babywearing Meetings – Come join us to learn about babywearing, connect with other caregivers, and bond with your little ones. Bring your own carriers, or learn with ours. Our meetings are always FREE and open to the public! BWI-Madison Meetings are really helpful for learning about safety and new techniques, trying on a wide variety of carriers, and getting personalized guidance from accredited Volunteer Babywearing Educators (VBEs). Plus, you’ll meet some really nice people, and the meetings are super kid-friendly! Become a member and check out a different carrier each month from our lending library of over 150 carriers!
Mother Baby Hour – Located at the Meriter Business Center-See website for various days/times. Mother Baby Hour is a time for moms and their babies to get together to ask questions, express concerns, learn about resources and share stories. A Registered Nurse/Community Educator facilitates the groups and offers a weekly topic. Join us as early as the first week after your baby is born!

Kid’s Herpetological Society Meeting – The general meetings typically occur on the second Friday nights from 7-10 pm at the Clark Street Community School in Middleton. A Kid’s Herpetological Society meets for an hour before regular meetings from 7-8 pm. See website for details and schedule.
Snooze at the Zoo Sleepovers – Henry Vilas Zoo – Sleep next to the animals and enjoy special animal encounters while learning about all zoos do to care for animals here and in the wild! See website for dates and prices.
Mini Racer Club – Wednesdays from 10:15-11:15 am at Tracks Hobbies. This drop-in program is for our youngest of racers (ages 4-5). Weekly agenda includes a race-themed story, running cars on the Tamiya Track and a simple race-themed craft. How do you get started in the club? – Option 1: You may purchase a Tamiya Mini-4WD kit for adult assembly prior to the first club session. Bring your completed car along to your session. – Option 2: You may purchase a pre-assembled Tamiya Mini-4WD at your first club session. During the session, you decorate the car and run it on the track. TAMIYA CAR KIT FEE: $15-$35, depending on model and assembly status chosen.
Open Art Studio – 12:30-2:30 Monthly on the First Wednesday at The Seventeenth Radish. Come and join us the first Wednesday of every month at either our Verona or Waunakee location. Students will have the opportunity to enjoy art without limits. A variety of art materials will be available to use to create works based on the weekly book. This kid-only drop off event is hosted the first Wednesday every month. Advance registration is required as spaces are limited.
Afterschool Expeditions – Afterschool Expeditions is a free program for students in grades K-8 to explore, engage and discover science from UW–Madison and the Morgridge Institute for Research with structured hands-on activities. This program takes place during the fall and spring semesters. TO REGISTER: You pick your adventure! The registration page will have different activity options for each date. You may select only ONE rotation plan per date. This lets us know which two activities you will be participating in when you come.
Warner Family Fun Nights – Warner Park Community Recreation Center, 5:30 – 8:30 pm, Fridays (see website for dates), $5 per family.
KEVA Open Play – Youth Open Play at KEVA Sports Center. Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays 9:30-1. Lots of indoor activities set up for toddlers. Drop in fee accepted or free with a KEVA membership. Begins September 5th.
MMoCAkids ArtPack – Families are encouraged to stop by the reception desk in the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art lobby and ask for the MMoCAkids ArtPack, the museum hands-on discovery kit for exploring art. Designed for family members to use together, the ArtPack contains a variety of fun activities that promote observation and imaginative thinking about visual art. Visiting an art museum with a child can be stressful if you are so worried about your child touching the art that you can’t enjoy the art, but the joy of art and art making is for people of all ages. These programs are designed for families with young children.

Car Seat Checks – The goal of the Safe Kids Injury Prevention Program is to help educate families on safety and injury prevention. A large component of our work is providing safety information and services to our Dane County communities. Car seat checks are available throughout the Madison area, see website for dates and locations. Appointments are required for car seat checks. Bird and Nature Walks – 1:30-3 pm at various Madison parks – Free, family-friendly Bird and Nature Walks are offered year-round on Sunday afternoons 1:30-3:00 pm by Madison Parks and FUN: Friends of Urban Nature partner groups. Join the FUN!
Open Art Studio – Use the Monroe Street Arts Center studio as your own! Work on a self-directed project under the guidance of an experienced art teacher. We will provide all of the art materials and one planned project per class to get you started. This is a drop-in class, but please call ahead to hold a spot, 608.232.1510. Cost is $12 per class or $48 for 5 classes with an Open Art Studio Pass.
The Crafty Project – The Crafty Project does monthly Kiddo Crafty Events at their creative studio. Additionally, The Crafty Project studio is a fabulous location for mom’s to get together and have a night out and create. They have a fun schedule of classes and offer private events.
Eastern Holistic Health For Families – 11:00am – 12:00pm third Saturdays at Tao Sangha Center. Fee: $8-10 per parent/child pair. Learn and practice how to make our energy and heart positive and strong through fun holistic practices including yoga, family shiatsu healing and Buddhist meditations. Meditation for Kids and Families – Kadampa Meditation Center of Madison – On Sunday mornings from 10-11:15, we offer Mindful Living: Prayers for World Peace in the main meditation room and Dharma for Kids in the kid’s meditation room. Dharma for Kids is suitable for kids ages 4-10. Older children and teens are welcome to attend the teaching with their parents, and parents with toddlers younger than four can stay with their children to participate in kids class together. Cost: $5/Adult and $1/child over 4.
