Ultimate Summer Bucket List | Madison

  1. Take in a Concert on the Square, every Wednesday at 7pm from June 28-August 2!
  2. Indulge in some Babcock Dairy ice cream at the Memorial Union Terrace
  3. Enjoy Camp Randall Movie NightCamp Randall Movie Night on June 29th.
  4. UW Arboretum: So many different ways for your children to explore and learn about nature. Plus, another great picture opportunity for the budding photographers.
  5. Brat Fest May 26-29… after all it IS the world’s LARGEST!
  6. Henry Vilas Zoo
  7. Cows on the Concourse on June 3 – Enjoy the live music, tasty food, fun games, and real, live cows as you peruse the Dane County Farmers Market!
  8. Take in the Blooming Butterflies exhibit at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens from July 20-August 13
  9. Take the kids on a tour of Sassy Cow Creamery!
  10. Plan a day trip to Cave of the Mounds.
  11. Another great day trip: Sandy Beach (Lake Mills)
  12. Bike Riding – Madison offers trails galoretrails galore. Load up the bikes (and the kids) and ride bikes while seeing the sites.
  13. Concerts on the Rooftop at Monona Terrace!
  14. Go see some animals at Haven’s Petting Farm and Eugster’s Farm
  15. Go for a hike at Picnic Point… don’t forget to a pack yourself a picnic lunch!
  16. Go sailing on Lake Mendota.
  17. Paddle Boat or Canoe on Lake Wingra.
  18. Visit as many parks as you can (check one off your list each week!)
  19. Walk around the Farmers Market – Madison has an abundance of awesome markets – including at least one each day of the week!
  20. Grab a drink in the beer garden at Capital Brewery.
  21. Make S’mores!
  22. Art Fair on the Square is on July 8-9th this year!
  23. Play a round of mini golf at Vitense Mini Golf.
  24. Have a water balloon fight in the backyard!
  25. Take the family to a Highway 18 Drive-In movie.
  26. Swim in a lake or pool – or check out a splash pad in the Madison area!
  27. Start a Lemonade Stand.
  28. Get some ice cream on State Street – Calliope & The Chocolate Shoppe are Madison musts!
  29. Head to Milwaukee for a Brewers game (only an hours drive!)
  30. Go to Story Time at the library or sign up for a Summer Reading Program.
  31. Tie Dye a t-shirt.
  32. Have a tea party.
  33. Potato Donuts and fresh fruit from the Farmers Market – grab a blanket and enjoy on the capitol lawn (bring bubbles!)
  34. Go on a Kids Camping Scavenger Hunt! (free printable here)
  35. Visit the DreamBank.
  36. Do a puzzle on the patio.
  37. Blow bubbles.
  38. Tour a Fire Station!
  39. Camp out in the backyard!
  40. Visit the sunflowers at Pope Farms – they tend to bloom in early August and are STUNNING!
  41. Fly a kite at Wingra Park (or at your neighborhood park)
  42. Go Berry Picking at one these great Madison locations!
  43. Check out one of the MANY Summer Festivals taking place in the area… parades, races, fireworks and more!
  44. Head to see some 4th of July Fireworks as they light up the sky!
  45. Summer Fest (okay, so not technically here in Madison – but it’s a short drive to Milwaukee and Summer Fest is known around the world!)
  46. Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies.
  47. Take the family out to the ballgame at a Madison Mallards minor league game!
  48. Make your own Popsicles
  49. Grill out with some of these yummy recipes!
  50. Head to Irish Fest in MilwaukeeIrish Fest in Milwaukee! (August 17-20th!) 
  51. Take lunch to Devils Lake State Park

    Great list! I added several of these events to my calendar and bookmarked the list for days when I can’t seem to come up with anything for us to do…I love summer in Madison!!

    You should edit that Havens Petting Farm is only open weekends in April.
