My five-year-old daughter Kate has a new obsession and it has nothing to do with dolls, ponies or screen time – it’s her shoes!
We were recently introduced to Swicharoos – sandals designed for fashionable girls who love the option of endlessly mixing and matching their fashion accessories – and we can’t get over this ingenious idea!
Swicharoos was started by a little girl named Cate (now 10 years old) who loved the fun of mixing and matching fashion accessories, especially shoes. She wanted a way to change one pair of sandals to match every outfit, so her Dad got involved and the idea for Swicharoos was born. Soon it became a family venture. Their goal was to develop a quality kids’ shoe with toppers that girls could change out to match whatever they were wearing. It took a few years, but they finally perfected the patented push, turn and click technology that makes Swicharoos an easy-to-use fashion accessory.
Their end result is a great neutral sandal base that comes with 12 different tops and a colorful carrying case (seen closed in the first photo above):
Switching up your look is so easy and effortless with Swicharoos’ patented attachment system that my 5 year old had it mastered in seconds. Simply choose your sandal top from the carrying case, insert each of the three ends into the sandal (one at a time), and twist until you hear a click. That’s all there is to it!
My experience with interchangeable or novelty accessories for young girls has typically been that they look cute but the quality is low and they break easily. I have been pleasantly surprised to find this is not the case with Swicharoos! Kate has been wearing hers daily (and switching them out all throughout the day) and the quality is fantastic. The sandal base is sturdy and thicker than most sandal or flip flop bases, and they even have a little bit of arch support. The tops are so darn cute – there’s something to match every outfit – and are showing no sign of wear and tear despite quite a bit of use already. The quality of these sandals makes me think they’ll still be in good shape even after Kate outgrows them, making them great hand-me-downs.
And most importantly – they’re comfortable! As cute as something might look, Kate won’t wear it unless it’s comfortable. Because of that, she typically sticks to two pairs of shoes in the summer – Stride Rite tennis shoes and Crocs flip flops. Any other kind of dressier or fancier sandal we’ve tried for her has either fit poorly, pinched, or rubbed, and she wasn’t having it. It’s so nice that she can now have the option of 12 different looks in one stylish and comfortable summer shoe.
And now your little girl can, too!
