Fall.

There’s crispness to the air. The sky is blue and the fall harvest is bright with oranges, yellows and reds.pumpkin-train

Welcome to fall at Festival Foods! This is one of our favorite times of year because we get so many fun opportunities to celebrate with our guests and our local growing partners.

October is the first full month of fall and it’s one we’ve got jam-packed with fun, family-friendly activities to celebrate the season. We start with Pumpkin Blowout on Saturday, Oct. 8. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day and special activities for our littlest guests will be set up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This full day of fall fun features locally grown pumpkins, including the very best from Schroeder Produce in Cambridge. The fourth-generation farm supplies some amazing Wisconsin produce to our Madison store as well as our locations in Janesville and Fort Atkinson.pump2

Pumpkin Blowout at our store at 810 E. Washington Ave. also will have plenty of those adorable mini pumpkins for sale as well as oddly shaped gourds, straw bales and corn stalks. And of course apple cider!

While you’re with us for all the fun fall, don’t forget to stop in for some amazing produce delivered daily by our local growing partners. We work throughout the year to develop relationships with farmers across the state to bring you picture-perfect produce at the peak of freshness.

We’ve been working for years with farmers who are experts at growing everything from green beans to cabbage to peppers. We also have some really great partnerships with growers, such as Riverview Gardens, who has an incredible mission and is developing new ways to grow food.

Pumpkin Blowout marks the start of October and our annual Boofest ends it with plenty of in-store trick-or-treating fun for those little ghosts and goblins in your home.oct-7-2015-003

At this super fun event, kids can join us for trick-or-treating at stations around the store from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Kids can pick up snacks, decorate cookies or even get some non-food items. We know events like this can be tricky for kids with food allergies, which is why we’re offering teal pumpkin stations. These are areas set up especially for kids with food allergies as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project, which offers kids non-food options, such as stickers, whistles, bracelets and pencils.

And kids aren’t the only ones having fun at Boofest! Our associates just love dressing up in costume and many departments plan their theme all year and get really creative. Don’t be surprised if a flamingo waits on you in the deli or a cowgirl checks out your groceries while a clown is bagging them.

We can’t wait to spend the boo-tiful month of October with you!
