Mindfulness – This simple word is quickly becoming a household practice. From parenting classes to adult coloring books, we are all starting to recognize the many benefits of taking the time to practice mindfulness. But adults are not the only ones who can use mindfulness to improve sleep, reduce stress, and improve focus, children can use these tools in their own lives to.

While both adults and children alike can benefit from mindfulness the way this skill is practiced will look different for each group. Adults may be able to read books on the subject and sit quietly listening to daily meditations, but this may not be as easy to do for a young child. Children are better able to learn the skills necessary to master mindfulness through games and activities. Have you always had a desire to help teach your children how to be mindful but didn’t know where to start? Beginner’s Mind has everything you need to get started!

Beginner’s Mind was created locally by a certified yoga instructor who also teaches in the Verona School District. When she discovered that there was not a mindfulness curriculum that was easy for an educator to use, and also fun and engaging for the children, she set out to create a toolkit that would include everything necessary to easily implement mindfulness into the classroom. These kits were so successful that many parents requested materials to use at home with their own children and an at-home kit was developed!

The Beginner’s Mind Mindfulness At Home Kit has all of the materials you need to begin your children on their own mindfulness journey, including:

  • Manual with over 80 interactive and easy to follow mindfulness activities
  • Beautiful hard-cover book to read to your child as an introduction to mindfulness
  • Percussion chime to signal breath work and quiet sitting
  • Mandala coloring book
  • All the supplies needed to make a large, non-breakable clear mind jar. When assembled the clear mind jar can be used as a way to settle and calm your child’s ever-thinking mind.

This at-home kit will help your family connect through interactive and engaging mindfulness activities that focus on:

  • Strengthening self-regulation and awareness
  • Tuning into the present moment
  • Increasing attention span and focus
  • Showing kindness and compassion for oneself and others

The Educational Toolkit, the original Beginner’s Mind Educational Toolkit, is unique to anything else out there in that it includes all the materials/supplies necessary to teach up to 24 children ages 5-11. Perfect for anyone teaching a summer camp or class, this kit includes everything you need to teach over 70 hands-on activities. The kit includes a wide array of materials to help children practice mindfulness in the areas of breath work, exploration of the five senses, gratitude, kindness, empathy, and togetherness.

With all of the positive information surrounding mindfulness, whether you are an educator or a parent, now is the perfect time to start the children in your life on a mindfulness journey. And with a Beginner’s Mind toolkit, getting started has never been easier!
