June 1: Free Family Night: 5-8 pm at the Madison Children’s Museum | Enjoy free admission from 5-8 p.m. on the first open Wednesday of each month through the museum’s Access for Everyone program.
June 2: 3rd Annual South Madison International Community Night: 5-8 pm at Villager Mall, Park Street | This is an annual, family-friendly, internationally-focused community event that will showcase four performances, community-sponsored activity tables, and a variety of information booths. Madison’s “Let’s Eat Out,” coalition of independently-owned food carts, will provide a number of international food options.

June 4: Summer Reading Triathlon Opening Ceremony: 11 am at Barnes & Noble West Towne and East Towne | From May 17 to September 6, kids in grades 1 through 6 can earn a free book at their local Barnes & Noble! Join us for the Summer Reading Triathlon Opening Ceremony on June 4 at 11:00AM. Kids can get their journals for a free book, enjoy fun activities and cast a ballot for their favorite book hero and place to win a Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal.
June 4: Cabin Cooking: Cheese Day: 12-2 pm at the Madison Children’s Museum | Get a taste of life nearly 200 years ago as we explore family life before Wisconsin was a state. Today you’ll get the chance to help us create (and eat) some homemade cheese!
June 4: Engineering for Kids: 9:30 am – 12 pm at DreamBank | Drop into DreamBank and cultivate your child’s innate curiosity about the way things work with fun activities provided by Engineering for Kids of Dane County — a creative organization seeking to encourage a new generation of engineers.
June 4: Cows on the Concourse: 8 am – 1 pm on the Capitol Square | Cows on the Concourse is a celebrated tradition that kicks off June Dairy Month in Dane County. At this free and family-friendly event, kids and adults can meet and greet cows and baby calves from local dairy farms.
June 4: Saturday Science: Farms in Wisconsin: 10 am – 12 pm at the Discovery Building | Explore the many forms of Wisconsin agriculture during this free family event! Ride the free shuttle to Cows on the Concourse, discover how dairy products are made, investigate urban farming techniques, learn about plants and animals, taste free samples of Babcock ice cream and more.
June 4: Grand Opening Celebration: 10 am – 12 pm at the Goodard School-Verona | Join us for fun activities, refreshments, meet our faculty and see our program in action.
June 4: Sawyer Crossen Memorial Triathlon: 8:30 am – 12 pm at Monona Pool and Winnequah Park | Kids tri ages 4-17 age appropriate distances. Fun morning for families and a great way to jumpstart summer. Music, face painting and more! See website to register.
June 4: Family Opera Day: The Magic Flute: The Overture Center’s Playhouse | Suitable for children 5-11. Join Opera for the Young for our 6th annual Family Opera Day featuring our production of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”. June 4: Dragon Art Fair: 9 am – 4 pm at Market Street-Deforest | The fun and quirky 12th Annual Dragon Art Fair includes 100 great artists, a silent auction, local food and family entertainment, including Nickey Fynn & Fa’s Street Magic. Free shuttle bus!
June 4: Estate Planning Workshop: 10 am – 12 pm at Horn & Johnsen | A simple, affordable and effective planning solution designed exclusively for Wisconsin parents of minor children. Attend this 2-hour workshop led either by estate planning attorney Dera L. Johnsen-Tracy or by estate planning attorney John Horn and you will leave with a complete, signed will- based Wisconsin estate plan.

June 10: Family Fun Night: 5:30-8:30 pm at Warner Park Community Recreation Center | Madison Parks and its partners are excited to bring Warner Family Fun Nights to the Warner Park Community Recreation Center. Join us for a fun-filled night of activities for all ages.
June 10: Good Day Market: 5-10 pm at Octopi Brewing, Waunakee | The Good Day Market is a night maker market popping up for one night only. June 11: Dairy Month Celebration: 11 am – 4 pm at Sassy Cow Creamery | Celebrate June Dairy Month with us at our creamery! Visit our cows, see our new barn, meet calves, enjoy ice cream plus much more. This event is FREE fun for all ages.
June 11: Oh, the Places You’ll Go Storytime: 11 am at Barnes & Noble West Towne and East Towne | n celebration of life’s many milestones, join us for a reading of the Dr. Seuss classic Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Activities to follow.
June 11: Safety Saturday: 9 am – 1 pm at DreamBank | DreamBank is proud to team up with the Madison Police and Fire Departments and The American Heart Association to share ways parents and kids can make safer decisions, prevent injuries and use life-saving devices such as seat belts, bike helmets and smoke alarms. Stop in for a free child ID, fun hands-on activities, giveaways and a free hands-only CPR lesson!
June 11: Dane County Breakfast on the Farm: 7-11:30 am at Hi-Way Holstein Ranch/Jason Ihm, Blue Mounds | Breakfast Menu: Cheesy scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, yogurt, cheese of many varieties, ice cream, milk & coffee. June 11: SummerPalooza: Madison Children’s Museum | The summer season kicks into high gear with SummerPalooza! The fourth annual SummerPalooza festival features: Free museum admission all day, Free performances outside the museum, Block party on N. Hamilton Street with games and strolling entertainment.

June 13: Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society-Free Family Concert: 11 am – 12 pm at the Overture Center Playhouse | We’ve broken down the barriers that separate audience and performer, making our concerts into riotously interactive events. Rather than leading audiences through a museum, we invite audiences to trespass into the creative and re-creative process right in the concert hall. We own up to our crimes, and we proudly proclaim that we are GUILTY AS CHARGED.
June 15/22/29: Lakeside Kids: 10-11 am at Monona Terrace | Free and open to the public.Come to Monona Terrace on Wednesday mornings and enjoy this eclectic and educational program designed for children ages four and up. A wide variety of local performers, artists, and organizations provide entertainment, hands-on fun, and learning. In the event of inclement weather, outdoor programs will be moved inside. June 16: Keeping Kids Safe Online: 10 am at PROMEGA BioPharmaceutical Technology Center | How do you keep your child safe online from predators? Junior League of Madison is hosting a free event June 16 called CyberWise to help parents learn how to do just that. The event, being led by former Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Special Agent Heather Ryan, will share what predators are looking for, what other dangers exist, and what parents can do to help their kids stay safe. June 30: Allergy Friendly Mallards Baseball: 7:05 pm at Madison Mallards “Duck Pond” | The Food Allergy Association of Wisconsin Charter Community Connection Night at the “Duck Pond” with the Madison Mallards will be playing the Lakeshore Chinocks. Peanut free concession stand with ingredient listing available for the items sold. Special seating section the TDS Triple Play Club. Tickets are $29.00 /person and include all you can eat and drink (soda and water) and 3 draught beers or three tickets for the kids games. $3 of every ticket will be donated to FAAW. Summer Concert Series – Winnequuah Park, Monona: Join the Friends of the Monona Senior Center, Inc. for a free evening of music! Bring your family, friends, picnic basket, blanket, and lawn chairs. Come relax and enjoy this wonderful community music series with us.
Car Seat Checks – The goal of the Safe Kids Injury Prevention Program is to help educate families on safety and injury prevention. A large component of our work is providing safety information and services to our Dane County communities. Car seat checks are available throughout the Madison area, see website for dates and locations. Appointments are required for car seat checks. Wonder Bugs Preschool Program – Introduce your toddler or pre-school aged child to a safe and wonderful natural world. This program is specifically designed for children ages 2-5. Each week, we’ll explore a different seasonal topic through hikes, outdoor exploration, music, puppetry, songs, stories and more. Each session will include a snack. Toddler Story & Stroll – Learn and play with your youngster in this fun, hands-on series that focuses on nature and the seasonal changes of spring. Classes include a story, a stroll through the outdoor gardens, and theme-related activities designed for you and your preschooler to spend quality time together. Kids & Pets Storytime – Animart Pet Store – 10:30 am – 11 am weekly on Tuesdays. Read with the Story Time Pet of the Week. A fun event for parents and children. Admission is $1.89 + tax per child.
Museum Storytime – UW Madison Geology Museum – 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 10:30 am. Museum storytime is geared toward preschool-aged children and each week features a book, museum specimens and a craft to take home. No reservations required, except for groups larger than 10. Free.
Stories, Fingerplays and More – Barnes & Noble West Towne – 10:30 am-11:15 am weekly on Tuesdays. Join in as our Barnes & Noble staff members share stories and songs with children, ages 2 to 6, and their families. Free.

Open Art Studio – Use the Monroe Street Arts Center studio as your own! Work on a self-directed project under the guidance of an experienced art teacher. We will provide all of the art materials and one planned project per class to get you started. This is a drop-in class, but please call ahead to hold a spot, 608.232.1510. Cost is $12 per class or $48 for 5 classes with an Open Art Studio Pass.
The Crafty Project – The Crafty Project does monthly Kiddo Crafty Events at their creative studio. Additionally, The Crafty Project studio is a fabulous location for mom’s to get together and have a night out and create. They have a fun schedule of classes and offer private events.
Mommy & Me Hour – 10 am Tuesdays at Nicki’s Diapers. Join us for the NEW Mommy & Me Hour at the Nicki’s Diapers Madison Retail Store! Each week we will have a topic to discuss in an informal, friendly environment.
Mother Baby Hour – Located at the Meriter Business Center-See website for various days/times. Mother Baby Hour is a time for moms and their babies to get together to ask questions, express concerns, learn about resources and share stories. A Registered Nurse/Community Educator facilitates the groups and offers a weekly topic. Join us as early as the first week after your baby is born!
