Mommy Fashion: Five minutes to fabulous

5 minutes to Fabulous!

As busy moms we all can agree that sometimes the last thing we make time for is ourselves. A typical morning at my house ends up with me begging and bribing my 2-year-old to allow me a five minute luke-warm shower ALONE. After many years of spending an hour plus on my hair and make-up I have scaled back my regimen drastically and have come to love a simpler look. I am excited to share my daily (five minute) make-up routine and some of my favorite products.

With the products I have included two options: “Need it” {$} and “Deserve it” {$$$}

My first step is to apply with my fingers a BB Cream. BB Creams are an old product that have been a hit recently in the US market. They are an all-in-one beauty balm designed to take the place of moisturizers, serums, primers, foundations and sunscreen.  I like to apply eye cream and a little moisturizer out of the shower and then follow up with a BB cream.  It goes on smoothly and easily like a moisturizer but doesn’t require the precision of foundation. Plus it has an awesome light feel!

Need It: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB $8

Deserve it: Too Faced tinted beauty balm $34

2.  The second step is EYES.  I quickly sweep the lid of my eye in a bronze color that adds a little warmth and life to sleepy lids.

Need It: NYX Peach Bronze Shadow $4

Deserve it: Kat VonD Saint Eye Shadow (Color: Downtown) $34

3. I find eyeliner adds a lot of definition to my eyes, so this is an important step for me.  I tend to do only the top lid when I am in a time-crunch or out for a day trip.  A pen-like liquid liner works great for the top lid and is fairly user-friendly.

Need It: Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner $7

Deserve it: Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner $34

4. Finish up those eyes with a thickening and lengthening black mascara.  If you have an extra 30 seconds give them a curl with an eyelash curler (my daughters favorite make-up tool to play with). One coat will do and this will finish off those pretty peepers!

Need It: Maybelline Volume Express Mega Plush Mascara $8

Deserve it: Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara $23 (worth every penny!)

5. Almost Done!  A light dusting with a big brush all over the face with a bronzer can give you a glow and an instant tan.  Be careful not to overdo it or just stick to the cheeks if you are just starting out.

Need It: Physicians Formula bronzer $15

Deserve it: Arbonne bronzer $36

6. Finally a little color to the lips and you are set!  A tinted chapstick or a sparkly lip gloss go a long way.

Need It: Berts Bees Lip Shimmer $4

Deserve it: Mac Lip Glass $13

It may seem like a lot of steps but I have each product laid out in my cabinet so I can just ‘grab and go’ in the morning!  Once you have the routine down it all can be done in 5 minutes.  As for what your kiddo destroys in your living room… that’s anyone’s guess!!
